The "Start'em Young" egg is inspired by the classic American Krylon brand spraypaint tins, popular with early graffiti artists.
Pushing the boundaries of traditional cross stitch, these are hand stitched organic duck egg shells; created by artist Phil Davison for the August 2014, Urban Cross Stitch "XXXSTITCH" show. They were exhibited for one night only in New York Citys' Con Atrist Gallery, in Manhattans Lower East Side.
Hailed as "the Banksy of the cross-stitching world" by Time Out NYC, (Issue 967) Phil carefully hand drills and stitches this very fragile medium to create mini masterpieces of cross-stitching art.
This unique work of art limited to a closed run of only 13 pieces, comes with its own miniture glass display dome and stand, and has been authenticated by Phil Davison, with the offical Urban Cross Stitch seal being applied to the urderside of the stand base.
Phil Davison is currently represented by Fuchs Projects Gallery in Brooklyn, NYC.
